One-to-one posture therapy that works on the alignment underneath your pain, not just the spot that hurts.

The clinic

Where the practice started

Santa Monica has been our home since 2008 and remains our longest-running clinic. Our founder wrote the Posture Alignment Specialist curriculum used to train therapists in this discipline, and the standards our LA therapists work to come from that.

Every program starts with a full postural assessment — photographs from the front, side and back, plus functional tests showing which muscles have stopped doing their job and which have taken over. You see the same picture we see.

How the process works · About the IMPACT program

Who comes to us

Who we work with on the Westside

Desk workers and commuters

Neck, shoulder and lower back pain that builds through the working week and eases at weekends.

Runners and cyclists

Recurring one-sided injuries that keep returning to the same hip, knee or Achilles.

Over-50s who want to stay active

Balance, stiffness and the sense that things are narrowing. Usually reversible, and worth addressing early.

People weighing up surgery

Worth exhausting conservative options first. We will tell you honestly if we do not think we can help.

A thirty-minute consultation and postural assessment, at no cost. You will see what we see, and there is nothing to decide on the call.

Ongoing sessions in Los Angeles are also arranged by phone — call or text 617-668-1450.

Getting started

Three steps, no mystery

01  A conversation and an assessment

One free session, thirty minutes. You describe what is going on and we analyze how you are actually standing and moving.

02  Your own sequence

A program built around your alignment rather than a general routine, adjusted as your body changes.

03  Holding on to it

Once you are aligned, the work shifts from correcting to maintaining. Some keep a session in the calendar; others take it from there.

Common questions

Questions from Westside clients

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book a free consultation directly, and most clients come to us without a referral. If you are under the care of a doctor or physical therapist for the same issue, tell us and we will work alongside them.

How is this different from physical therapy?

Physical therapy usually treats a diagnosed injury or the area that hurts. We assess the whole body and work on the alignment and muscle imbalances producing the load — which is often somewhere other than the painful spot. Many clients do both, and we are happy to coordinate.

What happens at the free consultation?

Thirty minutes. You describe what is going on, we take posture photographs and run functional tests, and you see the same picture we do. There is nothing to decide on the call, and if we do not think posture therapy is the right answer we will say so.

How long does a program take?

Programs run in blocks of eight or sixteen sessions, usually one a week at the start, with twenty to forty minutes of exercises a day at home. Change happens at different rates for different people, so we do not promise a timeline.

Do you take insurance?

We are a self-pay practice. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds — you can check whether you qualify through TrueMed.

Which LA clinic should I choose?

Pick by commute rather than distance. Santa Monica suits Venice, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades and Culver City; Beverly Grove is easier from West Hollywood, Mid-City, Hancock Park and Beverly Hills. The therapist and the program are the same at both.
